A network to help you get through high school and into uni

Hi everyone
Based on a lot of the results I have received from the 2011 Studentbox survey as how we can make Studentbox better, a lot of you have asked for tips on how you can study for specific subjects. I completely agree with this as there are lots of different study techniques that you can do for different subjects such as Maths in comparison to Physics, Economics, Human Biology and more.
To be able to build up a section of study tips for specific subjects so that we can help more people on Studentbox we need your input. So, to get things started, if you have any tips make sure you post them like this in this forum post:
Example Study tip below
"Subject:Maths
Study tip/s: The best way to study for maths is to repeat questions, figure out the formulae that you can apply and practice this out on a lot of questions either form study guides or in your textbook. This way it will become repetitious and you will understand when you're meant to apply this formulae to a certain questions."
This is a quick one I have made up. I haven't done any of these subjects in a while so it's really up to you guys to help each other out and write out study tips for specific subjects as you are either currently studying them or have just finished them e.g. Stage 1 - 3 course.
Get posting your individual WACE subject study tips and get free stuff!
I will go and organise and create pages etc... for these so that the study tips for specific subjects become more organised and can help more people. If you write lots of useful tips we'll definitely give you some goodies for your hard work!
I hope this works and people contribute as this would be really useful for so many people.
Ben

Permalink Reply by Lauren Maher yesterday I used a 5-subject book with all of the notes from each subject written into it. I find this way effective as all of my notes are in one place and I can just keep adding to them as I go. For example:
Chemistry 3AB: I colour coded each worksheets work and put them under subheadings, eg. Ionisation energy, hydrogen bonding, dynamic equilibrium etc. with an explanation included. As well as having some diagrams such as the molecular shape, equations and graphs in it.
Physics 3AB: A similar thing to the chemistry with colour coded per topic with subheadings underneath along with an explanation/ equation etc.
Maths and Maths Specialist 3CD: headings with equations, steps on how to do it, diagrams etc. all colour coded (but not according to a major topic just different coloured to the heading before).
English 3AB: for written texts I have: plot overview, central characters, setting significance, aspects of identity, ideas, quotes and example paragraphs for each text. For visual texts I have audience, purpose, ideas, conventions/codes and explanation.
That's all in the 5-subject book. Whereas I do something completely different for my Japanese study.
Japanese 3AB:
Grammar: List of which grammar structure it is and how to use it,
eg. Make an effort to do~ is ~Plain Form + ようにする
Kanji: flashcards with each kanji on it, the meaning, pronunciation, compounds on the reverse side. These are all bound on a ring so hat I don't lose any of the flashcards
Vocabulary: all written in a separate vocabulary book under different headings such as い adjectives, な adjectives, verbs, counters, travel words etc. Also I use http://www.languageperfect.co.nz/Professional/LanguagePerfect.html often to improve and maintain a high level of comprehension
Listening: download Japanese music onto my iPod as well as the listening tracks that we get and listen to them everyday
Speaking: Record oral questions onto an iPhone and practice those questions everyday until they are memorised and can speak almost fluently, making sure the pronunciation is correct at the end of the sentence.
Writing: doing at least 2 writing practices a week and getting the teacher to mark it.
Reading: Reading Japanese manga that is written in Japanese to see how much you comprehend.
I think that is about all the ways that I study for my subjects and they seem to be working.
